Configuring: Limit Values
Select all the fields to which limits must be applied. You can select all fields even though the filter option may be different for each individual field. The limit filters will be applied individually to each field during configuration.
Note that If a value does not fall within the limits, the entire row is removed from the created dataset.
Steps to configure
-
Field selection: Select the fields to which you would like to apply limit filters.
-
Limit types: Assign the type of limit, and specify default limit values if applying common limits to all the fields.
-
Limit values: Add specific limits to selected field/s.
-
Execution: A new dataset is created, containing the values of the fields within the limits.
Step 1: Field selection
Select the field/s requiring limits.
-
Only the double and integer fields will be available for selection.
-
Default settings: all the double and integer fields are listed in the available column.
-
Minimum configuration: at least one field has to be selected.
Step 2: Limit types
Select the type of limit to be applied to each selected field.
-
Highlight the field and select [Lower], [Upper] or [Both] limits to be applied.
-
You can assign a default lower and/or upper limit to all the fields if you want a common limit set for all fields. This saves time when applying common limits to many fields. Specific fields can then be edited individually in the next step.
-
If you assign a default lower and upper value, the lower limit can never be greater than the upper limit, and conversely the upper limit can never be lower than the lower limit. If these conditions are breached, the [next] button will be disabled.
-
Default settings: no limits are assigned.
-
Minimum configuration: at least one type of limit has to be assigned to each of the fields.
Step 3: Limit values
Specify the desired limits, if they differ from the default limits already assigned.
-
All limits have to contain values.
-
Lower limits can never be greater than upper limits, and upper limits can never be lower than the lower limits.
-
If invalid data has been entered to the limits, the [next] button will be disabled and the field will be highlighted in red.
-
Default settings: if you haven't assigned a default lower and/or upper limit, the default values will be the field’s minimum and maximum values. If you assigned default limits, all the fields limits will be assigned to the default values.
-
Minimum configuration: all limits have to contain a valid value.
Step 4: Execute
A new dataset is created containing only the values within the assigned field limits. All values in all fields must comply to the defined limits for each field. If any value does not fall within the limits defined for that field, the entire row is removed from the created dataset.
